The Bouncing Log Café is a gem of a find in the small town of Boiling Spring Lakes, that’s veritably hidden just inland of the popular vacation town of Southport. Open for lunch and dinner, this cool café serves up a wealth of burgers, sandwiches, and seafood platters that utilize house made buns, which are toasted with old fashioned real butter, and which are served with a big dose of southern hospitality.
Burger fans will be in paradise at Bouncing Log Café, thanks to a big focus on certified Angus beef burgers that can be loaded with several dozen toppings, like bacon, fried egg, sautéed mushrooms or onions, and a selection of traditional and more creative cheeses, (like Gruyere and Gorgonzola.) There’s also a big helping of southern and American sandwiches, like a quarter pound crab cake, an Angus cheese steak, and “Yard Bird” or seasoned chicken breast, as well as a modest but filling array of seafood platters, which can include crab cakes, shrimp, fish, or all of the above. Named after the historic local Bouncing Log Spring, and located along the pretty 275-acre “Big Lake,” Bouncing Log Café is a fine introduction to the great flavors and hospitality of this seldom-explored corner of the Cape Fear region.
