Our top Wilmington, NC rental home booking tips:

Getting the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 006 Sea La Vie by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
