How to find the best Sunset Beach rental experience:

When to book a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 052 Nells Nest West by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
