Getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Sunset Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on the best dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 095 A Kid Again by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
