Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful Ocean-View Home on Waterway with Boat Dock, WiFi, Outdoor Shower & AC has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the host before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
