Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful, Remodeled, Charming 6 Bedroom\/3 Bath, OCEANFRONT Home-Sleeps 12 has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
