Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.

  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.

How to pick the perfect rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Start by having your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 2 Bedroom Oceanfront Condo in Station One! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
