Tricks and tips to get the very best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Cuddlefish: Oceanfront Home with Beautiful Sunset Views has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
