Wilmington, NC rental booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Booking in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront duplex w/ dock, shared pool, fast WiFi & central AC has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
