Important Information for Your Stay

At BHI Vacations, we want to ensure you have the best possible experience during your visit. Please note that while some homes may provide bicycles or beach towels, we do not maintain or guarantee their availability.

The Bald Head Island Club and Shoals Club operate independently from BHI Vacations, and guest memberships must be purchased directly through each club. Availability varies by home listing, and during the summer season, memberships may sell out quickly. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend securing your club membership as early as possible.

Additionally, the Bald Head Island ferry system is independently operated and not affiliated with BHI Vacations. To ensure a smooth arrival and departure, we encourage guests to book ferry and tram reservations well in advance.

Tips to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the bestrental home:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Gorgeous Golf Course View with BHI Club available! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
