Finding the best Carolina Beach vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. NEWLY RENOVATED: Ocean View with a walk across the street to public beach access has 1 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
