How to book the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing and booking your Wilmington, NC rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Stone's Throw - Newly Constructed 4 Bedroom w/heated pool - 1 Block to the Ocean has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
