(6B/6.5BA, 1K, 3Q, 3TW, 1 TR, SLP 12, 3 Golf Carts, Saturday Turn in Peak Season, CHECK OUT 10:00AM / CHECK IN 5:30PM) CHARMING will be your first thought as you traverse Barnard House's drive through white picket fences and flowering butterfly bushes. This six bedroom, 6.5 bath getaway on Bald Head's private Middle Island amazes you with its inspiring panoramas, tranquility and comfort. Step into the bricked entry of this reverse-floor plan home, from there hardwoods lead you to the central lower-level gathering area which is ideal for family game-playing and movie watching. Check out the adjacent dinette with its own coffee bar-ideal for your morning java. Off this space are three bedrooms. The first is a Queen with a full ensuite bath and private access to the back screened porch that homes a ping pong table. The next bedroom is a twin bunk room with an additional trundle. It utilizes the close by hall full bath. Beyond, a bedroom with two more twins also features its own ensuite. At the end of the hall, there's another enormous, bright corner Queen bedroom with its own ensuite. This level also homes the laundry, three outdoor showers and a placid marsh-front back deck with caressing winds and cicada serenades. Up the stairs reveals an oversize, natural light-filled, vaulted open floor plan backed by French doors and windows that grant "WOW factor" panoramas across Bald Head's estuary all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The living space is anchored by a decorative granite fireplace, warmed by gracious hardwoods and surrounded by handsome wainscoting. The dining area, furnished with a table for ten and a convenient bar, is abutted by a granite breakfast bar proffering seating for four more. Eat here or just outside on the upper deck at either the dining table or on covered lounges and chairs while relishing salty breezes and marsh/seascapes. The chef's kitchen extends plenty of butcher block counter space and pleases with a walk-in pantry and Kitchen Aid and Viking stainless appliances. At each end of this floor is a King Master suite. The first pampers with a garden tub in its ensuite, a private sitting area and two closets. The second also features an ensuite as well as its own private access to the back deck. Equipped with three four-passenger golf carts, Barnard House will spoil you with the Bald Head vacation you've been dreaming of...and more! Getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. CHARMING retreat on private Middle Island amazes with its panoramas, tranquility and comfort has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
