(5BR/4BA, 1K, 2Q, 4 Tw, SLP 10, 2 golf carts, Sunday Turn in Peak Season, CHECK OUT 10:30AM / CHECK IN 4:30PM) "Varuna, Varuna, under la luna" is a heaven among the waves-boasting every luxury and comfort you could imagine. Savor the long open decks, sizable screened porch, handsome butterfly garden and private boardwalk to the beach from this five-bedroom, four-bath sanctuary. Plus, Varuna's location lets you relish ocean sunsets and savor fast and painless access to ALL BHI has to offer. Inside this getaway, you'll discover three levels of comfort and fun. Enter the light-filled first level-it features enormous open living areas with tiled floors and ocean panoramas through walls of glass. Don't miss the bespoke, inlaid tile compass right inside the front door. The gathering space provides comfortable furnishings, a flat screen, interesting books and loads of puzzles and games. There's also a game table cornered by two walls of glass.

The interior dining space also includes two glass walls: one with vistas of the ocean and the other granting peeks at the cardinals who call the sculpted junipers and Island holly just outside their home. No matter which way you look, there is something interesting to see. If dining al fresco is your preference, feast on the cavernous screened porch with its vistas of the Atlantic fronted by the dunes' swaying sea oats. Close by both dining areas is a marvelous chef's kitchen with plenty of counter space for meal prep as well as all the equipage you could want for snacking, serving and socializing. A Primary King Master Suite is located on this main level and offers a private sitting area, direct deck access, inspiring ocean prospects and a huge bathroom with dual sinks and plenty of counter and storage space.

Half a flight up is another Owner Suite presenting a Queen bed and dual-sink full bath. Both of these spotlight bespoke ceilings with lighted cupolas for added ambiance. Ten steps up from the second suite is Varuna's top floor and a circular deck that dazzles with spectacular ocean perspectives. It's one of the best spots to savor Bald Head's glorious sunsets. There are also two additional bedrooms on this level with two Twins each, a full bath and a central gathering area featuring a snug couch and TV as well as more games, puzzles and kids's books.

Varuna's crofter offers a very private and comfortable Queen suite with a full bath and direct deck access. Other accoutrements this property provides are a gas grille, outdoor shower, internet access, and two golf carts. Varuna does not have bicycles or beach chairs. There are bicycle rental companies on the island for your vacation fun. Please let us know if we can assist in securing some bicycles for your stay. Just remember, under both the sun and the moon, a week or more at Varuna is time well-spent!

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses.   • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it.
