Tricks and tips to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Whiskey Creek #137 - Soundfront w/ Dock, Game Room, Dog-friendly! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
