The Boathouse restaurant is a moderately-sized and unimposing restaurant that’s located in a quiet section of Wilmington, close to Bradley Creek. But although it’s easy to miss, seafood fans will want to take a detour to find this subtle spot, which is stocked with Calabash catches and Low Country specialties.

The menu is basic but delicious for seafood fans, and features a hefty selection of fried and broiled entrees for both lunch and dinner. The recently renovated interior features rows of booths and tables, which are perfect for diners who want to roll up their sleeves and dig in. Patrons will be treated to big fish filets, fried shrimp, pasta dishes like shrimp or scallop scampi, and plenty of good side dishes like collard greens, French fries, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. There’s also a lot of sandwiches and salads for lighter appetites, as well as a full breakfast menu with waffles, omelets, pancakes, egg dishes, and all the southern home-cooking staples. Regardless of when a diner stops by, the dessert menu is also worth a look, thanks to a range of decadent dishes that range from chocolate cake to key lime pie. Always filling, and able to cater to both big southern and seafood appetites, The Boathouse is an off-the-beaten-path destination that’s worth a second look.
