The wonderfully unique Greenlands Farm Store is worth a detour from the Southport Waterfront or Oak Island due to its petting zoo and gorgeous Bolivia, NC scenery alone. But visitors who stay to feast at the Farm Store will be rewarded with an ever-changing and seasonal menu that reflects the highlights of North Carolina agriculture, and which is bolstered by a big dose of local flavor and hospitality.
Patrons who settle into the on-site café will find a nicely descriptive menu that boasts a range of sandwiches, “Value Sandwiches,” and Kids Meals, to appeal to visitors of all ages. Though the menu offerings are subject to change based on what’s producing at the farm, diners can expect a handful of standard goodies, like the Garden Gobbler with turkey and Havarti cheese, the “Fresh Catch” on organic sourdough rye bread with lettuce and tomato, or the “Hammy Mammy” with Tavern Ham, red pepper sauce, and lettuce and tomato on a Kaiser roll. There’s plenty of vegetarian and health-conscious options available, and by using locally sourced and / or organic ingredients, patrons can feel good about feasting on a big midday meal. All in all, it’s a fine destination to sample the local flavors at its home-grown and dressed-down best.
