Tucked away on the edge of the Cape Fear River just a few miles south of Downtown Wilmington, the River Road Park is a popular launching point for a myriad of adventures that can range from kayaking and boating expeditions, to just enjoying the abundant local wildlife.
River Road Park has a myriad of facilities for park visitors, which includes a handicapped accessible fishing pier on the edge of the Cape Fear River. Other amenities within the park include a playground, and a small boat ramp where kayakers and mariners aboard smaller vessels can instantly access the river waters. The park also features two expansive picnic shelters, which includes a picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 45 people, and one that can accommodate 10, which makes it a popular destination for group or community gatherings and barbecues. Restrooms are also located at the site, as well as ample parking for visitors who want to relax and stay a while to admire the views, or the easy water access.
