Trip with Triplett

Enjoy an educational yet fully engaging tour of historic Wilmington with a journey that starts with a Trip with Triplett. This local tour company is orchestrated by Robin, a retired social studies teacher who grew up in Wilmington and spent years teaching American and Cape Fear history. Under Robin’s expert guidance, tour-goers will learn about the lesser-known stories, legends, and fascinating tidbits that have made the Port City one of the most popular vacation destinations in the state of North Carolina.

The two-hour walking tour starts at the POW-MIA Memorial Park next to the Hilton Hotel, which makes it an easy venture for anyone staying in the heart of the downtown area. From here, patrons will stroll past the massive Cape Fear River, explore the brick and stone streets that are bordered by ancient buildings, and will even breeze past a couple historic and famed residences, all while taking an easily paced amble. En route, tour-goers will learn all about the region’s history, from the haunted public library to the woman Confederate spy of Fort Fisher, and will garner a true understanding of Wilmington – (which includes the origin of the town’s name.) A fun and educational expedition, Trip with Triplett presents a local’s perspective on local history.
