Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book a perfectrental:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. This island getaway is within walking distance of all the Holden Beach's activities! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
