Tips for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in Holden Beach. To get the best rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Yacht Watcher - Pool, Sleeps 20, Intracoastal Waterway Boat Dock, Three Decks! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
