Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect rental in Carolina Beach:

  • Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. #9 Penthouse w\/ 360 ocean & beach views in CB! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
