Tips for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book yourrental home:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. A Bit O'Heaven: Cheerful Home in Secluded Cul-de-sac with Ocean Views has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
