Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beach Bum Game House (Brand new salt pool) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
