Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your Wilmington, NC vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beachfront Duplex with 3 Decks and Awesome Ocean Views & Beach Access has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
