Vacation rental tips:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Carolina Lake Beach Villas A17 - One bedroom condo, ocean views and a pool! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
