Tips for getting the best rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. CB House (Bike Trail, Brewery, Boardwalk, Park) has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
