The space

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, our "max. capacity" and restricted parking options will always limit the number of visitors who can both rent on and visit our Island simultaneously! Although always relative, this provides a bit more elbow room and open space than average for those looking for more “distancing” and privacy than some bigger public beaches. It’s a family-aligned beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The suite is in the heart of Carolina Beach and is a moderate walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s.

This suite is a mixture of the original “period” construction, old-world appeal (with a humongous dose of modern upgrades!) and bespoke one-of-a-kind updates with today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath 2nd floor suite opens into a freshly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and completely equipped modern kitchen (stove + oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and more). The kitchen is outfitted will all the basic cooking and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!). Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen.

As you walk by the breakfast bar, dining table, and living room sitting area, you're greeted by a slider onto a private balcony and outdoor dining space to get your dose of Vitamin Sea! As you head back towards the East side of the home, you pass the half bath and enter the vicinity of both bedrooms up one more flight. Bedrooms #1 and #2 each have their own full on-suite bathroom with respective shower stalls. The master bedroom also has its own private balcony to appreciate ones coffee or vino while sitting and appreciating those Atlantic Ocean breezes!

The unit's TWO (2) Queen beds consists of either a plush luxury bed or a new encased memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge. The homes ONE (1) Full pullout has a standard 4" pullout bed.

There is a 50” Intelligent WIFI TV along with a WIFI computer connection in the living room and a 42" TV in each bedroom for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or other such casting device if looking to ensure all of the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!

Neighborhood description

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The building itself is roughly one block from the nearest beach access. The property is a moderate walk or short drive from downtown Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining and is equidistant to the smaller, but just as striking Downtown Kure Beach with its fishing pier and aquarium. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning (refer to carolinabeachdotorg for additional info!). Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more calming and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has multiple vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Units @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorbikes, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple cars, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways.

• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may allow more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all guests, locals, and neighbors alike have an delightful experience.
