Tips to get the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Wilmington, NC rental:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Pool Access + Beach Access Boardwalk has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
