Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Great Egret
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
