Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting and booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Island Park 4 BR House-Community Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
