How to get the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the best vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. New Build with an Elevator and High End Appliances has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
