Our top Wilmington, NC rental property booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. A Beach Dream (1-Bedroom Villa) by RedAwning has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
