Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the best vacation rental:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Costello's Den (2-Bedroom Villa) by RedAwning has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
