Smile and Wave. Our second row beach home has been freshly refreshed and we can't wait to share this family friendly home with you! We are located on the east side of Ocean Isle Beach about 1 mile from the center of town. Our home is steps away from the beach access so its very simple to run back and forth to the home for anything you may have forgotten!

Our reverse floor plan optimizes ocean vistas in the space that you will be spending most of your time. The open family room, dining room, and kitchen offer gorgeous vistas of the ocean. With 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, Smile and Wave sleeps up to 14 people so we have plenty of room for you, your family, and your friends. There are 2 master bedrooms (one on the top floor and one on the first floor) each offering King beds and their own bath. The 3 remaining bedrooms are all on first floor along with two additional bathrooms. Each level features a sizable deck spanning the width of the home for calming or dining . All bedrooms have TVs with Roku devices so you can sign in to any streaming service that you like. There is a huge, private outdoor shower to rinse off in after a day at the beach!

For families with modest kids, our home is outfitted with a infant gate, pack and play, booster seat, high chair, umbrella stroller, and a variety of beach toys.

We added an EV charger in 2022 that is available to our guests for an additional fee.

Vacation rental tips:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Ocean Isle Beach. To get the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Newly remodeled second row home with beautiful views and steps to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
