Tips to get the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Wilmington, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Isle Hideaway for Two has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
