Our top Wilmington, NC rental booking tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront+Pet-friendly+1st floor+Near North End Pier & Freeman Park has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Have a great stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
