Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the rightvacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Vitamin Sea: Come Enjoy the Rooftop Viewing Deck has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
