On Ocean Isle Beach Island, there is a pier, arcade, fishing center, boat launch, mini-golf, eateries, beach/surf stores, a homemade ice cream shop, coffeeshop, playground, splash playground, boat charters, bicycle/watersport units, a museum about coastal Carolina. There is a gas station/modest grocery market on the island also. Services available include grocery delivery and restaurant delivery. The town of Ocean Isle Beach has a useful website that lists things to do, beach rules, etc. Over the bridge on the mainland, there are shopping centers with grocery stores, drugstores, specialty stores, planetarium, and more eateries and as well as numerous golf courses. In the close by town of Shallotte, N.C., there are numerous plazas with discount stores, etc. Golf cart units available close by. About a 45-min. drive to the south is Myrtle Beach, S.C., with a very enormous variety of things to do (shopping, outlet centers, entertainment, live theater, theme eateries, aquarium) and a 45-min. drive to the north is handsome and historic Wilmington, N.C., where you can enjoy a downtown tour or visit the Battleship USS North Carolina in addition to many other activities.
