Strategies to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To book the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Wilmington, NC restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Saw Mill Sunset Beach, NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
