Your family will appreciate this vintage beach bungalow on East Main Street. Whether you walk ( 3 mins.), run (less than 2!) or walk- you'll quickly have your toes in the sand. Appreciate the open floor plan kitchen and living area for the gang to gather before and after your beach days or outings on the enormous sectional or around the farm home table. Four bedrooms (TV in each room) featuring 2 Masters, while 2 other bedrooms share the 3rd bath, means this home works for 2 young families or bringing grandparents along. Beds are 3 Queens, Bunk Room Twin over Full. Fun coastal colors and decor throughout. All bathrooms have been completely redone with modern vanities and tile. You'll also appreciate the cavernous porch across the entire front of the home any time of year- listen to the waves, or people watch! Back porch looks towards canal. Pet friendly too! Now with 2 outdoor showers for a fast rinse- calling dibs not neccessary!
The bungalow is conveniently located on Main & 6th, so you are a short walk to the stores and Sunset Slush in the center of the island. To the east, try surf fishing while looking over to Ocean Isle Beach. Venture west past 40th St and you are on the undeveloped Bird Island Preserve, home to the Kindred Spirit mailbox beloved by generations of Sunset Beach residents and visitors. On the mainland you'll find plenty of golf courses , eateries, grocery shopping and places to arrange kayak tours, units items galore, and well as a Zipline Swamp Tour! Head down to Calabash for river front dining, more stores or even to Little River and beyond.

Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in Sunset Beach:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Second Row steps to beach, 4 bedrooms with 3 full baths, AND pet friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
