Strategies to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose and book the best Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Start by having your family select vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sunny and Clean Home on Oak Island has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
