Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Top of the World ~ Prime Location - Pool - Ocean & Lake Views ~ Private Elevator has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
