Wilmington, NC rental home tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Wilmington, NC rental:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Welcome to The Marsh Harbour Inn-Yacht Master Suite has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
