Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Carolina Beach. Book your Wilmington, NC vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose and book your prefect Wilmington, NC rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 1 BR Condo with Water Views + 2 Minute Walk to Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
