Tricks and tips for getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in Sunset Beach. Book your Wilmington, NC rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 149 C Shack by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
