The impacts of Hurricane Isaias in August 2020 left our dunes in a state of disrepair. Emergency dunes were finished in early October. While this helped provide immediate protection, there are still more long-term efforts underway. It is very important for the safety of all residents and visitors to stay off the sand dunes and access the beach at the right of the property. This is your very own private beach access.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a budget.

  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
