Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family choose dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Angling Inn - Lovely Cottage, Short Walk to Private Beach Access! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
