Tips to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocean Isle Beach. To find the best value, change your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful deep water beach house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
