Strategies to get the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Canal home with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
